Defending our #1 ranking

June 27, 2013

Earning a first-place title is an achievement, but defending that title is a challenge.

Thanks to our ongoing efforts to continuously improve and enhance our service, CEM Benchmarking Inc, an independent research firm that annually measures the performance of pension plans, has ranked our pension service first in the world, for the second year in a row.

Using 2012 data, CEM compared us to 44 other pension systems from around the world. Of these, Teachers' belong to a "peer" group of 12 pension plans based in North America.

Our total service score was 92 out of 100. Our peers' median score was 82. In particular, our member statements, pension estimates, newsletters, website and satisfaction surveying earned top marks in our peer group.

"Earning the #1 ranking for the second consecutive year is a real honour," says Rosemarie McClean, Senior Vice-President, Member Services. "The CEM study is an excellent way for us to see where we stand in relation to our peers around the world, to affirm that we're on the right track and to identify opportunities to improve and enhance our service. We will keep striving to exceed members' expectations every day!"

This is the fourth time Teachers' has attained global distinction, having also ranked first in 2007, 2010, and 2011.
