Attention snowbirds: don't forget about your pension

November 18, 2014

With the ice storm that hit Ontario last year, it's not surprising that many of you will be packing up and heading to warmer climates this winter.

If you plan on being away for more than a few months, there are a few things you should remember about your pension.

Update your personal information

Sign in to iAccess Web, our secure member website, or call our Member Hotline (1-800-668-0105) to update your mailing and email addresses. Doing so will ensure you're kept up-to-date with news about your pension plan.

Are you receiving the proper tax treatment?

If you're planning to leave Canada for six months or more, there may be tax implications. Even if you change your address in iAccess Web, we continue to tax you as an Ontario resident. To ensure you're receiving the correct tax treatment, call our Member Hotline and, if necessary, we'll update your tax code.

We will mail your T4A slip at the end of January

Your T4A slip will come in the same envelope as your January deposit advice slip. If you prefer to also receive an electronic notification, you can access it on iAccess Web starting at the end of January. Simply sign in to your account and visit the "Tax Slips" section under "My Pension" to download a copy.
