Who is taking a leave?
September 26, 2013
September doesn't just mark the start of a new school year. In 2012, it was also the most popular month for our members to start their maternity leaves.
Anyone who has taken an approved leave of absence, like a mat leave, in the past 5 years can buy back that credit for their time away from work. Last year, more than 8,600 members decided to take some time away from work.
Of those, nearly 90% were women, the bulk of which were between the ages of 30 and 40. Mat leaves represented about 66% of the leaves, with employer-approved leaves in a distant second at 21%.
