Are you ready for your pension check-up?
October 03, 2013
What's a PSOB? Once a year we'll send you a statement that reflects what you've earned in the pension plan so far. This is called your Personal Statement of Benefits, or PSOB.
It's that time of year for your annual pension check-up. Whether you receive your Personal Statement of Benefits (PSOB) by mail, or through an email prompting you to log in to iAccess Web, our secure member website, be sure to take some time to read this important document.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when reviewing your statement:
- Take a moment to review your Service Record. Are there any gaps in service or discrepancies in your salary? Ask yourself if you attended any funerals, weddings or if you took a day off for a religious holiday or a sick day. If you feel there is a discrepancy, contact your employer. The sooner you identify and address any gaps, the better.
- If you view your PSOB online, on the Pension Check-up page in iAccess Web you can download, print and save the statement as a PDF.
- Once you're in iAccess Web, take a moment to check for any alerts. Do you need to update your contact information? Is your marital status up-to-date? Have you taken a moment to select a survivor pension level and designate a beneficiary? If so, be sure to take a moment and review your beneficiary designation and survivor pension level in case they need to be updated.
