- Managing Director, Portfolio Management
Harj Shoan is based in Toronto and leads Private Capital’s Portfolio Management practice, which focuses on value creation planning, value lever acceleration, talent management, board effectiveness, and sharing of best practices across the direct investment portfolio. Prior to joining the Portfolio Management team, Harj was a member of the Consumer & Retail direct investing team in Private Capital, and currently sits on the boards of Arterra Wines Canada, Shearer's Snacks, Traeger Grills, and Munchkin.
Harj joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2014 and has nearly two decades of private equity, investment banking and corporate finance experience. He previously worked at Imperial Capital, Morgan Stanley Private Equity (U.K.), Shoppers Drug Mart, and BMO Nesbitt Burns.
Harj holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Stefano Santarelli joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2015. He looks after Private Capital's European portfolio performance, focusing on Value Creation, Talent and Governance. He also leads Innovation & Digital globally across Ontario Teachers' portfolio, including Koru, our innovative incubation platform that builds new sources of value for our portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Stefano worked for 10 years at Bain & Company where he was a leader in the New York Private Equity practice leading due diligence engagements and developing strategic and performance improvement programs for several large corporations. Prior to that, Stefano worked at Procter & Gamble and Telecom Italia in their marketing department.
Stefano earned a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome.
Tricia Witty joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2016. She supports our portfolio companies in identifying and capturing value creation opportunities, particularly in the area of Operations. She currently sits on the board of Shearer’s Foods.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Tricia was part of the Operations Practice at McKinsey & Company where she worked with leading organizations to improve their businesses by driving change in areas such as Procurement, Supply Chain and Manufacturing. Prior to that, Tricia spent 10 years with Celestica in various operations, strategy and account management roles.
Tricia earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at Western University.
Ying Cui joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2015. She is focused on cross-portfolio strategic initiatives, leading the efforts to automate reporting across the 60-company direct investing portfolio, and more recently launching and building Ontario Teachers’ captive digital incubator, Koru, to generate breakout growths and defend portfolio companies against disruption.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Ying had five years of consulting experience at Deloitte with a focus on banking operations including post-M&A integrations. She also managed global strategic relations pro bono for IMCC, a consulting firm based in China with a vision to connect cities to cities for sustainable urban development.
Ying earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, and holds CFA, CPA and CA designations.
Matt McClellan joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2017. He is focused on value creation plans and in supporting strategic initiatives across the Private Capital portfolio.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Matt worked in strategy & operations, in the consumer goods, retail, and healthcare practices at A.T. Kearney. Before that, Matt worked as a consultant at Altus Group in the commercial real estate valuations practice, focusing primarily on national retail portfolios.
Matt earned a B.Comm from the University of Guelph, an LLB from the University of Leicester, and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

Summer Zhang joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2017. She is primarily responsible for portfolio analytics and helping to execute value creation opportunities.
Summer previously worked in the Financial and Management Reporting group at Ontario Teachers' and has completed two co-op terms with the Portfolio Management team.
Summer received a Bachelor of Mathematics and a Master of Accounting from the University of Waterloo.
