- Managing Director, Portfolio Management
Harj Shoan is based in Toronto and leads Private Capital’s Portfolio Management practice, which focuses on value creation planning, value lever acceleration, talent management, board effectiveness, and sharing of best practices across the direct investment portfolio. Prior to joining the Portfolio Management team, Harj was a member of the Consumer & Retail direct investing team in Private Capital, and currently sits on the boards of Arterra Wines Canada, Shearer's Snacks, Traeger Grills, and Munchkin.
Harj joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2014 and has nearly two decades of private equity, investment banking and corporate finance experience. He previously worked at Imperial Capital, Morgan Stanley Private Equity (U.K.), Shoppers Drug Mart, and BMO Nesbitt Burns.
Harj holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Stefano Santarelli joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2015. He looks after Private Capital's European portfolio performance, focusing on Value Creation, Talent and Governance. He also leads Innovation & Digital globally across Ontario Teachers' portfolio, including Koru, our innovative incubation platform that builds new sources of value for our portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Stefano worked for 10 years at Bain & Company where he was a leader in the New York Private Equity practice leading due diligence engagements and developing strategic and performance improvement programs for several large corporations. Prior to that, Stefano worked at Procter & Gamble and Telecom Italia in their marketing department.
Stefano earned a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome.
Tricia Witty joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2016. She supports our portfolio companies in identifying and capturing value creation opportunities, particularly in the area of Operations. She currently sits on the board of Shearer’s Foods.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Tricia was part of the Operations Practice at McKinsey & Company where she worked with leading organizations to improve their businesses by driving change in areas such as Procurement, Supply Chain and Manufacturing. Prior to that, Tricia spent 10 years with Celestica in various operations, strategy and account management roles.
Tricia earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at Western University.

Vlad Moisseykin joined Equities as a member of the Portfolio Management Team in 2019. He helps oversee the department's valuation, portfolio construction, analytics, monitoring, and reporting efforts. Vlad joined Ontario Teachers’ in 2014 and previously held several roles within the Finance group.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers’, he worked as a consultant specializing in business valuations and damages quantification at FTI Consulting, and was an accounting and assurance manager at BDO Canada. Vlad is a CPA and a CBV, and received his Bachelor of Mathematics and a Master of Accounting degrees from the University of Waterloo.

Richard Thomas joined Ontario Teachers’ Portfolio Management Team in 2020. He works closely with portfolio companies in the Financial Services and Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) sectors to lead the identification and implementation of strategic priorities and value creation opportunities. Richard also drives portfolio-wide initiatives as part of the PMT.
Prior to joining Teachers’, Richard held a number of executive roles at Royal Bank of Canada. These included leading the development of the bank’s digital start-up arm at RBC Ventures, leading the Strategy & Business Architecture group, and managing portfolios and products within Cards & Payments. Richard’s previous experiences include executive positions at HSBC and Sears Canada Financial Services, as well as consulting experience with Deloitte in Europe and North America in the Strategy & Operations practice.
Richard has an MA from the University of St Andrews, an MBA from London Business School, and the Chartered Director (C.Dir) designation from the Directors College at McMaster University.
Matt McClellan joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2017. He is focused on value creation plans and in supporting strategic initiatives across the Private Capital portfolio.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Matt worked in strategy & operations, in the consumer goods, retail, and healthcare practices at A.T. Kearney. Before that, Matt worked as a consultant at Altus Group in the commercial real estate valuations practice, focusing primarily on national retail portfolios.
Matt earned a B.Comm from the University of Guelph, an LLB from the University of Leicester, and an MBA from the University of Toronto.
Jian Ping Xu
- Investment Analyst
Jian Ping Xu joined Ontario Teachers’ Portfolio Management team in 2020. He supports portfolio construction, analytics and helps execute value creation opportunities. Previously, Jian Ping worked as an analyst at RBC, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and BMO Capital Markets.
Jian Ping holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Computer Science from Western University and an Honours Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.

Summer Zhang joined Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management team in 2017. She is primarily responsible for portfolio analytics and helping to execute value creation opportunities.
Summer previously worked in the Financial and Management Reporting group at Ontario Teachers' and has completed two co-op terms with the Portfolio Management team.
Summer received a Bachelor of Mathematics and a Master of Accounting from the University of Waterloo.
