Russell Hammond leads Ontario Teachers' High Conviction Equities team, which invests across the equity asset class and along the liquidity range of pre-IPO, PIPEs and high conviction public companies. He joined Ontario Teachers' in 2006 and was previously responsible for Industrials and Business Services sector coverage within Private Capital.

He currently sits on the boards of Aurora Plastics, The Azek Company, Cole-Parmer, Exal Group, Infiltrator Water Technologies and Mauser Packaging Solutions. Past investments include Alliance Laundry and Dematic.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Russell worked in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse, as well as the investment banking and private equity departments of Merrill Lynch in Toronto and London, England.

Russell is a CFA charterholder and graduated as a Presidential Scholar with a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.

Maggie Fanari

Maggie Fanari has been with Ontario Teachers' since 2006 and was based in Toronto until May 2015. She is now based in London and heads the High Conviction Equities (formerly Relationship Investing) team's direct equities investments for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. She has structured and executed on large-scale, partnership-driven minority investments in both public and private companies in multiple sectors globally.

Maggie started her career as an auditor at KPMG and has previously worked in equity research at Scotia Capital.

Maggie is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA charterholder. She also holds a BBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Angus Botterell

Angus Botterell joined Ontario Teachers' in 2001 and leads a team of investment professionals in the High Conviction Equities department. He is responsible for overseeing and managing a number of active equity programs.

Before joining Ontario Teachers', Angus spent six years working in the mining industry with responsibilities ranging from operations engineering to project development across the globe.

Angus holds a B.Sc. in Engineering (Honours) from Queen's University and an MBA from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. He is a Professional Engineer, a CFA charterholder and a graduate of the Ivey Business School Leadership program.

Igor Bekker

Igor Bekker joined Ontario Teachers' in 2005 and is part of High Conviction Equities. He currently leads a team of investment professionals that manage a number of active equities programs.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Igor spent five years in the research department of BMO Nesbitt Burns, covering North American Telecommunications.

Igor earned a BBA (Honours) from York University's Schulich School of Business and an MBA from Queen's University. He is a CFA charterholder and a graduate of the Ivey Business School Leadership program.

Dan Kiang

Dan Kiang joined Ontario Teachers' Hong Kong office in 2014 and is focused on direct equities investments in Asia.

Dan started his career as an investment banker with Merrill Lynch in New York and has nearly two decades of experience investing in Asia. Before joining Ontario Teachers', he was Managing Director at Mount Kellett Asia. Prior to that, he was a Director at Merrill Lynch Asia where he was responsible for its corporate principal investments in the Greater China region.

Dan received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude in Economics, with a Certificate in East Asian Studies, from Princeton University.

John Sheedy

John Sheedy joined Ontario Teachers' in 2005 and has led transactions in multiple sectors in Canada, the U.S. and globally in both public markets and in private equity. He currently leads a Toronto-based team focused on partnership-driven investments in the Americas. Previously, John was a partner at a Toronto-based merchant banking fund and a partner at the Canadian law firm Torys, where he practiced corporate and securities law.

John holds a BA in Economics (Honours) from Western University and a law degree from Queen's University. He holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has served on several portfolio company boards including SeaCube Container Leasing Ltd., Imperial Parking, PODS Enterprises Inc., and Lancaster Aircraft Leasing.

Brandon Gerson

Brandon Gerson joined Ontario Teachers' in 2013, focusing on direct equity investments in both public and soon-to-be public companies in North and South America.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Brandon was an Investment Analyst at K2 & Associates Investment Management, a Toronto-based multi-strategy hedge fund. Brandon started his career in the Investment Banking Division of Scotiabank, where he was involved in a variety of capital markets and corporate advisory transactions across the Consumer, Industrial and Mining Sectors.

Brandon holds an MBA from Western University and a BBA from York University.

Mark Piotrowski joined Ontario Teachers' in 2016 and brings  with him over 15 years of both public and private equity experience, coupled with operational and entrepreneurial accomplishments.

Mark is a CFA charterholder and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba. 

Francois Stoessel

Francois Stoessel joined Ontario Teachers' in 2016, focusing on direct equities investments in both public and private companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Francois has over a decade of industry experience in private equity and investment banking.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Francois worked at GMT Partners, a pan-European mid-cap private equity fund active in telecom, media and technology, and KKR, where he focused on European private equity deals in industrials and telecom. Francois started his career in investment banking at Deutsche Bank, where he was involved in a variety of mergers, acquisitions and corporate advisory transactions.

Francois earned a Master's degree and diploma from Ecoles des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC), in Paris.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Filippo was an associate in the investment banking division of J.P. Morgan in London, where he was involved in a variety of capital markets and corporate advisory transactions across the energy and consumer & retail sectors.

Filippo holds an M.Sc. in Finance with distinction from the London School of Economics and a B.Sc. in Economics (Honours) from Bocconi University.

Kelvin Lin joined Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan 2012 and is currently part of the High Conviction Equities team. Prior to High Conviction Equities, Kelvin worked in the Infrastructure group and on the Relationship Investing team.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Kelvin worked in Equity Research at Stifel Nicolaus.

Kelvin holds an HBA degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University and is a CFA charterholder.

Jeff McCabe

Jeff McCabe joined Ontario Teachers' in 2011 and is part of the High Conviction Equities team. He previously worked on the Infrastructure and Natural Resources team and has global transactions and asset management experience across multiple sectors including power, renewables and transportation infrastructure. On the equities team Jeff is focused on investing in pre-IPO and public companies based in North and South America.

Jeff has a B.Sc. (Chemistry) from McGill University, an M.Sc. (Chemistry) from the University of Toronto, and an MBA from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. He is a CFA charterholder.

Michael Wang joined Ontario Teachers' in 2017.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Michael worked in investment banking in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at CIBC Capital Markets and as an analyst at Alignvest Management Corporation and Deloitte.

Michael is a CFA charterholder and holds a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Geoffrey started his career in investment banking in Goldman Sachs in New York. Before joining Ontario Teachers', he was an investment analyst at Gruss Capital Management, a hedge fund focused on event-driven investing, in Hong Kong.

Geoffrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (summa cum laude) degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Luke holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in economics and finance, with First Class Honours from the University of Sydney.
