Personal information is information that would lead to the identification of a particular person, such as a social insurance number, phone number or Teachers' account number (internal reference number). Confidential information includes personal information and any other information not publicly disclosed which is of a sensitive or proprietary nature. Do not post personal or confidential information on Teachers' social media sites.
Teachers' is not responsible for any personal or confidential information posted by Plan Members or other individuals using its social media sites. Teachers' may remove posts that contain personal or confidential information, but Teachers' is not responsible for any damages caused by any delay or failure to remove posts that contain personal or confidential information. Individuals who enter personal or confidential information on Teachers' social media sites do so at their own risk.
Content and Commenting Guidelines
Teachers' is not responsible for any online information about its programs, benefits, representatives, vendors, customers, etc., that is not posted by authorized Teachers' representatives. Information on Teachers' social media sites is made available to you for your independent use and is not intended to provide you with benefits, insurance, retirement or investment advice. We cannot and do not guarantee its applicability or accuracy with regard to your individual circumstances. Teachers' is not responsible for any direct or indirect damages relating to errors, omissions or discrepancies on its social media sites.
The information contained on Teachers' social media sites is for information distribution and discussion purposes only. In the event of a conflict between the information contained on Teachers' social media sites and the information contained on Teachers' website or in Plan Member communications and official plan documents, the information contained on Teachers' website and in Plan Member communications and official plan documents will govern. Any comments by or opinions of Plan Members or other individuals who engage on Teachers' social media sites are theirs alone and do not represent the opinions of Teachers' staff or the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board.
We ask that you follow our posting guidelines. Teachers' may delete content that is not related to the purpose of its social media sites. Non-permissible content includes but is not limited to comments, URLs and hyperlinks that:
- are off-subject or out of context;
- are threatening, harassing, defamatory or discriminatory;
- contain obscenity;
- contain personal or confidential information, including confidential information about Teachers' or personal information of Plan Members;
- contain protected health information;
- contain information that could reasonably be construed to compromise public safety;
- incite or promote violence or illegal activities;
- advertise or promote a commercial product, service, entity or individual;
- contain copyright infringing material;
- promote or endorse political campaigns or candidates; or
- are otherwise illegal or violate Teachers' policies.
Teachers' may link to other third party websites (e.g., websites other than Teachers' websites) from Teachers' social media sites. If you use one of these links, you will leave the Teachers' social media sites and proceed to the selected website located on another server. By providing links to other websites for your convenience, Teachers' does not imply endorsement of a website's sponsor, nor does Teachers' imply endorsement of any product, service or activity offered on the websites or by any advertiser on the sites.
External Social Media Platforms
Although we realize social media is a 24/7 communication channel, Teachers' will post content and review comments on its social media sites during regular business hours (Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET). Comments that are posted after hours and on weekends will be reviewed as soon as possible; this may mean the next business day.
