Bruce Cooper and Margaret Stuart Appointed to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan’s Board
TORONTO, September 24, 2026 - Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Cooper and Margaret Stuart to the Plan’s Board, effective January 1, 2027. Appointed by the Government of Ontario, one of the Plan’s two sponsors, they will fill the upcoming vacancies of Board Chair Steve McGirr and Board Member George Lewis, who will both retire from the Board at year’s end after serving their full terms. As previously announced, the Plan’s two sponsors jointly appointed Cathy Cranston as next Board Chair, also effective January 1, 2027.
Mr. Cooper is a senior investment executive with more than 35 years of experience in asset management and financial services in Canada and the UK. He previously served as CEO of TD Asset Management and TD Epoch, and as Executive Vice President of TD Bank Group. He is Vice Chair of the Nature Conservancy of Canada and a member of the Endowment Board of West Neighbourhood House and has served on the boards of Holland Bloorview Children's Hospital and the Canadian Coalition of Good Governance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and a Master’s in Political Science from McGill University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Ms. Stuart is a seasoned executive and strategic advisor with more than 25 years of C-suite experience. Most recently, she was Country Leader for Salesforce Canada, where she led growth and customer success. She previously held senior roles at BlackBerry and SAP. She serves on the boards of OpenText, Kids Help Phone, and ISL Engineering and Land Services, and advises Achēv, MaRS, and Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin and is a graduate of The Judy Project, a Rotman School of Management leadership forum.
