Formed in 1991, Teachers’ Private Capital is the private investment department of the $117.1 billion Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’). Teachers' has developed an innovative investment program and successful track record for investment performance.
One of Teachers’ early diversification strategies was to develop a world-class private equity portfolio.
Our portfolio, valued at $12.2 billion at December 31, 2011, encompasses direct private equity investments, as well as investments in leading private equity funds. We invest in companies around the world seeking to grow and add value to their businesses over the long term.
Since its inception, the core private capital portfolio (direct investments, co-investments and private equity funds) has generated an internal rate of return of 19.3%.
Our flexible, long-term approach and our expertise in numerous industry sectors make us one of the largest and most sophisticated pools of capital in the world.
