Romeo Leemrijse

Romeo Leemrijse leads the fund's private equity transactions in the industrial products, energy & power sectors. He joined Ontario Teachers in 2006 and was most recently director, consumer and retail for Private Capital. Since joining Ontario Teachers he has worked on a number of transactions, including GNC, Serta Simmons Bedding, Shearers, Dematic, CSC, EdgeMarc, Hawkwood and Infiltrator.  Romeo serves on the boards of  Serta Simmons Bedding, Dematic, Hawkwood, EdgeMarc, Aspenleaf, Infiltrator and CSC.  

He was previously a principal at EdgeStone Capital Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing investments, as well as monitoring and providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies.

Romeo is a CFA charterholder and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Russell Hammond

Russell Hammond joined Private Capital in 2006 with more than 10 years of investment banking and private equity experience. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', he worked in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse, as well as the investment banking and private equity departments of Merrill Lynch in Toronto and London, England.

At Ontario Teachers', Russell is responsible for investments in the Industrials sector and has been involved in several transactions in this area. He currently sits on the boards of Dematic S.A., EXAL Group and Alliance Laundry.

Russell is a CFA charterholder and graduated as a Presidential Scholar with a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.

Blake Sumler

Blake joined Ontario Teachers' in 2013.  He has worked in private equity for more than 10 years.  Previously, Blake was a Senior Vice President at Callisto Capital, a mid-market Toronto-based private equity firm focusing on buyouts and growth capital investments in Canada.  Blake's varied work experience includes hedge fund investing at a Toronto-based firm, equity research at RBC Dominion Securities and debt syndication at Newcourt Capital.  

Blake is a CPA, CA and a CFA charterholder. He holds a BA (Chartered Accounting) and a Master of Accounting from the University of Waterloo.

Zvi Orvitz

Zvi Orvitz

Zvi Orvitz joined Ontario Teachers' in 2008 and is focused on direct investments in the energy and power sector. He has been involved in a number of investments, including BluEarth Renewables, Hawkwood Energy and Canbriam Energy. He currently serves on the Boards of BluEarth Renewables and Canbriam Energy.

Previously, Zvi worked in investment banking at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney in both New York and Toronto.

Zvi earned an Honours Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA charterholder.

Ashfaq Qadri

Ashfaq Qadri

Ashfaq Qadri joined Private Capital in 2016 with more than a decade of experience in private equity and investment banking. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Ashfaq was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley Private Equity, with roles in New York and London. He previously also worked in Morgan Stanley's Investment Banking division in New York.

Ashfaq received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College and graduated with a double major in Computer Science and Economics.

Robin Shah

Robin Shah joined Private Capital in 2012 and is focused on direct investments in the Industrials and Business Services sector. Since joining Ontario Teachers' he has worked on a number of investments, including Aurora Plastics, Infiltrator Water Technologies, CSC, EXAL Group, and Alliance Laundry.  Robin serves on the boards of Aurora Plastics and Infiltrator Water Technologies. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers, Robin was a private equity associate at Birch Hill Equity Partners and an M&A analyst at Scotia Capital. He has also worked in the corporate strategy group of Rogers Communications.

Robin holds a BBA (with distinction) from the Schulich School of Business and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Aaron Manz

Aaron Manz joined Private Capital in 2012. He has previously worked at the Boston Consulting Group in Toronto as well as at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Calgary.

Aaron is a CFA charterholder and earned a Bachelor of Commerce (with distinction) from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Maxim Tcherner joined Private Capital in 2014. Since joining Ontario Teachers', he has been involved in a number of transactions including the acquisitions of CSC ServiceWorks and Infiltrator Water Technologies, as well as the majority sale of Alliance Laundry. Maxim is also actively involved in Ontario Teachers' portfolio company, Exal Corporation. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Maxim worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse providing M&A advisory and financing services across a number of industries.

Maxim holds an Honours Business Administration degree (with Distinction) from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.

Mustafa Beg-Mohamed

Mustafa Beg-Mohamed joined Private Capital in 2015. Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Mustafa worked in investment banking at TD Securities and in the assurance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

A Chartered Accountant, Mustafa holds an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo and an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Jules Koifman joined Private Capital in 2015. Previously, he was an Investment Banking Analyst at RBC Capital Markets where he worked on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and follow-on capital raises.

Jules holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University.
