- Senior Managing Director, Private Capital
Jane Rowe is Senior Managing Director, and head of Private Capital at Ontario Teachers'. She sits on the Investments and Risk committees of the Plan and chairs the Investments Division Credit and Counterparty Committee. Ms. Rowe serves on the boards of Cadillac Fairview, Ontario Teachers' wholly-owned real estate subsidiary, Arterra Wines Canada and Camelot Group PLC, the operator of the U.K. National Lottery.
Prior to joining Ontario Teachers' in October 2010, she was Executive Vice-President, Special Accounts Management and Retail Credit Risk at Scotiabank. Previously, she held senior roles at Scotia Merchant Capital Corporation, the bank's Canadian private equity fund, was President and CEO of RoyNat Capital Inc., Scotiabank's wholly owned mid-market merchant bank, and was President and CEO of Scotia Mortgage Corporation.
Ms. Rowe received a B.Comm. (Honours) from Memorial University, her MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business, and has ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She is an Advisory Board Member of Memorial University's School of Business, and serves on the Board of Governors at York University and the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Toronto and York Region. In 2018, Ms. Rowe received the Schulich Alumni Recognition Award for Outstanding Progress & Achievement.
- Managing Director, Technology, Media & Telecom, and Interim Head, Healthcare and Financial Services
Bogdan Cenanovic leads Ontario Teachers' investing activities in the technology, media and telecom sectors. He joined Private Capital in 2009 and has nearly two decades of private equity and investment banking experience. Since joining the organization, he has been involved in a number of significant transactions including Ascend Learning, Blue Coat Systems, Canbriam Energy, CareerBuilder, Compass Datacenters, Datapipe, Flexera Software, Hawkwood Energy, Insight Pharmaceuticals, Kanetix, Metronode, Riverbed Technology and TierPoint. He currently sits on the boards of Camelot Global, Flexera Software, Premier Lotteries Ireland, Riverbed Technology and TierPoint.
Bogdan was previously a principal at TorQuest Partners and prior to that, a vice-president at EdgeStone Capital Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing investments, as well as monitoring and providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies. Earlier in his career he worked as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
Bogdan is a graduate of the Honours Business Administration and MBA programs at the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University. Additionally, he holds the ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
- Managing Director, Industrial Products, Energy & Power, and Interim Head, Consumer & Retail
Romeo Leemrijse leads Ontario Teachers' private equity transactions in the industrial products, energy & power sectors. He joined the organization in 2006 and was most recently Director, Consumer & Retail for Private Capital. Since joining Ontario Teachers' Romeo has worked on a number of significant transactions, including PODS, GFL Environmental, GNC, Serta Simmons Bedding, Shearers, Dematic, CSC, Aethon and Infiltrator. He currently sits on the boards of PODS, Serta Simmons Bedding, Hawkwood, EdgeMarc, Aspenleaf and CSC.
Romeo was previously a principal at EdgeStone Capital Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing investments, as well as monitoring and providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies.
Romeo is a CFA charterholder and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
- Managing Director, Global Funds
Tanya Carmichael is based in Toronto and leads the Global Funds team for Ontario Teachers'. She has extensive experience in private equity fund investing and represents Ontario Teachers' on numerous limited partner advisory committees. Tanya is Chair of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) board of directors. She has also served on the Private Equity Steering Committee of the Principles of Responsible Investment.
Before joining Ontario Teachers' in 2006, she was an executive director in CIBC World Markets' private equity funds group and also worked in the legal and compliance group at CIBC. Tanya articled at Stikeman Elliott in Toronto.
Tanya received a BA (Honours) from Queen's University and an LLB from Western University. She holds the ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
- Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Private Capital (London)
Jean-Charles Douin is based in London and leads Private Capital's activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He joined Ontario Teachers' in 2008 and has over 15 years of private equity experience. Since joining the organization he has been involved in a number of European buyouts led by the London office including Busy Bees, Helly Hansen, ISS, Memora and OGF. Jean-Charles has served on a number of boards across Europe and Africa and currently sits on the boards of Burton's Biscuits and Busy Bees in the U.K., Memora in Spain and OGF in France.
Previously, Jean-Charles worked at CapVest, a pan-European mid-cap private equity fund active in the food, consumer goods and healthcare sectors, and UBS Investment Bank, where he focused on M&A deals in the consumer and retail sectors.
Jean-Charles graduated from HEC (École des hautes études commerciales), in Paris and earned an MBA from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver.
- Managing Director, Portfolio Management Team
Tamara Finch developed and leads Ontario Teachers' Portfolio Management practice within Private Capital, which focuses on value creation planning, value lever acceleration, talent management, board effectiveness, and sharing of best practices across the direct investment portfolio.
Prior to leading the Portfolio Management team, Tamara spent six years in direct investing at Private Capital and three years in corporate credit at Scotiabank. Tamara currently works with several portfolio companies and sits on the board of Baybridge Seniors Housing Inc. and Exal Group.
Tamara earned a BA (Honours, Economics) from Queen's University and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Toronto. She is a CFA charterholder and holds the ICD.D designation.
