Jane Rowe is Senior Managing Director, and head of Private Capital at Ontario Teachers'. She sits on the Investments and Risk committees of the Plan and chairs the Investments Division Credit and Counterparty Committee. Ms. Rowe serves on the boards of Cadillac Fairview, Ontario Teachers' wholly-owned real estate subsidiary, Constellation Brands Canada and Camelot Group PLC, the operator of the U.K. National Lottery.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers' in October 2010, she was Executive Vice-President, Special Accounts Management and Retail Credit Risk at Scotiabank. Previously, she held senior roles at Scotia Merchant Capital Corporation, the bank's Canadian private equity fund, was President and CEO of RoyNat Capital Inc., Scotiabank's wholly owned mid-market merchant bank, and was President and CEO of Scotia Mortgage Corporation.

Ms. Rowe received a B.Comm (Hons) from Memorial University, her MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business, and has ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She is an Advisory Board Member of Memorial University's School of Business, and serves on the Board of Governors at York University and the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Toronto and York Region.

Bogdan Cenanovic

Bogdan Cenanovic

  • Managing Director, Technology, Media & Telecom

Bogdan Cenanovic leads the Fund's investing activities in the technology, media and telecom sectors. He joined Private Capital in 2009 and has over 17 years of private equity and investment banking experience. Since joining Ontario Teachers', he has been involved in a number of significant transactions including Ascend Learning, Blue Coat Systems, Canbriam Energy, Compass Datacenters, Datapipe, Flexera Software, Hawkwood Energy, Insight Pharmaceuticals, Riverbed Technology and TierPoint. He currently sits on the boards of Camelot Global, Flexera Software, Premier Lotteries Ireland, Riverbed Technology and TierPoint.

Bogdan was previously a principal at TorQuest Partners and prior to that, a vice-president at EdgeStone Capital Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing investments, as well as monitoring and providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies. Before that he was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

He is a graduate of the Honours Business Administration (HBA) and MBA programs at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Steve Faraone

Steve Faraone is responsible for the consumer, retail and healthcare sectors. Since joining Ontario Teachers' in 2002, he has worked on a number of transactions, including the acquisitions of 24 Hour Fitness, Alliance Laundry Systems, Canada Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company, Flynn Restaurant Group, Heartland Dental Care, PetVet Care Centers, PhyMed Healthcare Group and Yellow Pages Group. Steve serves on the boards of Flynn Restaurant Group, Heartland Dental Care, PetVet, Shearer's Foods, Plano Synergy and Baybridge Seniors Housing Inc.  Previously, Steve spent four years with a Canadian investment bank.

Steve is a CFA charterholder and received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours Finance) from the University of British Columbia. He has completed the Advanced Executive Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Romeo Leemrijse

Romeo Leemrijse leads the fund's private equity transactions in the industrial products, energy & power sectors. He joined Ontario Teachers in 2006 and was most recently director, consumer and retail for Private Capital. Since joining Ontario Teachers he has worked on a number of transactions, including GNC, Serta Simmons Bedding, Shearers, Dematic, CSC, EdgeMarc, Hawkwood and Infiltrator.  Romeo serves on the boards of  Serta Simmons Bedding, Dematic, Hawkwood, EdgeMarc, Aspenleaf, Infiltrator and CSC.

Romeo is a CFA charterholder and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Michael Murray

Michael Murray leads the fund's private equity investments in the financial services sector. He joined Ontario Teachers' in 2005 and has participated in investments in GCAN Insurance, Canada Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company, NXT Capital,Broadstreet Partners, and Automobile Protection Corporation. He currently serves on the boards of NXT Capital, Canada Guaranty, First American Payment Systems,Broadstreet Partners, and Automobile Protection Corporation. Previously, he was a consultant with Bain & Company, focusing on strategy development, profit improvement and due diligence engagements. During his tenure at Bain, Michael developed expertise in financial services through numerous client engagements across North America. Michael also spent a number of years as senior director of corporate development at Delano Technology Corporation in Toronto.

Michael received a Bachelor of Commerce degree (First Class Honours) from Queen's University, and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where he graduated as an Edward Tuck Scholar with high distinction.

Tanya Carmichael

Tanya Carmichael is based in Toronto and leads the Global Funds Team for Ontario Teachers'. She has extensive experience in private equity fund investing and represents Ontario Teachers' on numerous limited partner advisory committees. Tanya is Chair of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) board of directors. She has also served on the Private Equity Steering Committee of the Principles of Responsible Investment.

Before joining Ontario Teachers' in 2006, she was an executive director in CIBC World Markets' private equity funds group and also worked in the legal and compliance group at CIBC. Tanya articled at Stikeman Elliott in Toronto.

Tanya received a BA (Honours) from Queen's University and an LLB from Western University. She holds the ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Tamara Finch

  • Managing Director, Portfolio Management Team

Tamara Finch developed and leads Private Capital's Portfolio Management practice, which focuses on value creation planning, value lever acceleration, talent management, board effectiveness, and sharing of best practices across the direct investment portfolio.

Prior to leading the Portfolio Management Team, Tamara spent six years in direct investing at Private Capital and three years in corporate credit at Scotiabank. Tamara currently works with several portfolio companies across the portfolio and sits on the board of Baybridge Seniors Housing Inc. and Exal Group.

Tamara earned a BA Honours (Economics) from Queen's University and an MBA (Finance) from the University of Toronto.  She is a CFA charterholder and holds the ICD.D designation.

Jean-Charles Douin

  • Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa (London)

Jean-Charles Douin joined the London office for Private Capital in 2008. He has been involved in the buyouts of Acorn Care & Education, Busy Bees, Burton's Biscuits and Helly Hansen and the investments in ISS and OGF. Jean-Charles serves on the boards of Burton's Biscuits, Busy Bees, Helly Hansen and OGF and looks after the consumer & retail as well as healthcare sectors for Europe.

Previously, Jean-Charles worked at CapVest, a pan-European mid-cap private equity fund active in the food, consumer goods and healthcare sectors, and UBS Investment Bank, where he focused on M&A deals in the consumer and retail sectors.

Jean-Charles earned a master's degree and diploma from Ecoles des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), in Paris; followed by the MBA program from University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver.
