  • Cadillac Fairview’s GREEN AT WORK™ strategy, which applies to all properties across Canada, sets operational benchmarks to reduce energy consumption and waste, improve environmental protection, encourage sustainable procurement and maintain communication with key stakeholders.
  • The company was one of the first to convert several Toronto office buildings to Enwave’s Deep Lake-Water Cooling system that dramatically reduces energy consumption and emissions.
  • Today, all of Cadillac Fairview’s major office towers and retail shopping centres across Canada have achieved the Building Owners and Managers Association’s (BOMA) BESt green building certification.
  • Many Cadillac Fairview properties have attained LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the internationally-accepted measurement for sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality. Others are actively pursuing the designation.
  • Cadillac Fairview’s RBC Centre in downtown Toronto is the first major (more than 1 million square feet) triple-A office building to be built to LEED Gold NC standards in Canada. The NC designation is a comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability, where both the landlord and the tenant contribute to operating efficiencies, and all benefit from related savings. The property features:
    • › automated systems for lighting and windows
    • › floor-to-ceiling insulated glass for greater natural light
    • › water collection and high-efficiency recycling systems
    • › low-emitting materials
    • › biofuel emergency generators providing 100 per cent back-up power to all electrical systems
