The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’) today confirmed that it has accepted an AUD$20 million litigation settlement offer from Intoll Group (formerly known as Macquarie Infrastructure Group).

Teachers’ issued a letter to more than 1,500 Canadian and international public issuers in February explaining how we will handle advisory votes on executive compensation (‘say on pay’) during the 2010 proxy season.

Ares Management LLC and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’) announced today the completion of their acquisition of Simmons Bedding Company. As previously announced, the acquisition was facilitated through a pre-packaged restructuring plan, which was approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware two weeks ago. With today’s closing, the Simmons' total debt obligations are now approximately US$450 million, down from approximately US$1.0 billion when the transaction was announced in September 2009. This reduction in the level of debt will further enhance Simmons’ ability to compete in the near- and long-term.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, together with management, has completed the acquisition of Acorn Care and Education Ltd. (Acorn) from Phoenix Equity Partners. Financial details were not disclosed.

A private investor group, in which Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan ("Teachers’") is the lead sponsor, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire American International Group, Inc.’s (“AIG”) Canadian mortgage insurance business, AIG United Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company Canada (“United Guaranty Canada”).
