Glen Silvestri
Vice-President
Glen Silvestri leads the fund’s private equity transactions in the telecom, media, technology and energy services sectors. He joined Teachers’ in 2001 with a background in M&A and finance.

Glen has been involved in many significant transactions, including the formation of MidOcean Partners through a management buyout of Deutsche Bank’s private equity portfolio, and the acquisitions of Ames True Temper, CFM Corporation, Doane Pet Care Company, SonicWALL, Flexera Software and Blue Coat Systems. Glen currently sits on the boards of MLSE, Flexera Software and Big Brothers and Sisters of Toronto.

A Chartered Accountant, Glen earned a BA from the University of Western Ontario and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D).

 

Bogdan Cenanovic
Director

Bogdan Cenanovic joined Teachers’ Private Capital in 2009 with more than 10 years of previous private equity and investment banking experience. He currently sits on the board of Flexera Software and Alliance Laundry. Bogdan was previously a principal at TorQuest Partners and prior to that, a vice-president at EdgeStone Capital Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing investments, as well as monitoring and providing strategic guidance to portfolio companies.

Bogdan was formerly an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he was involved in a wide range of mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings and general corporate advisory assignments.

He is a graduate of the Honours Business Administration (HBA) and MBA programs at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

 

Ashvin Malkani
Portfolio Manager

Ashvin Malkani joined Teachers’ in 2002. He has been involved in a number of Teachers’ investments, including CTVglobemedia, Doane Pet Care Company, and North American Oil Sands Corporation. He currently sits on the boards of New Zealand Yellow Pages Group and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

Prior to joining Teachers’, Ashvin was an analyst at TD Capital, the private equity arm of the TD Bank Financial Group.

Ashvin received a BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

 

Zvi Orvitz
Portfolio Manager

Zvi Orvitz joined Teachers’ in 2008. Previously, he worked in investment banking at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney in both New York and Toronto.

Zvi earned an Honours Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a CFA charterholder

 

Euclid Sarjoo
Portfolio Manager

Euclid Sarjoo joined Teachers’ in 2006 and has since been involved in a number of investments in the technology sector. He currently serves on the boards of Flexera Software and Blue Coat Systems. He previously served on the board of SonicWALL. Euclid is a former partner at the Telecommunications Fund at RBC Capital Partners where he was responsible for sourcing, executing and managing investments in the telecommunications sector. Prior to this, he was an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston.

Euclid received a BA (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

 

Darren Smart
Portfolio Manager
Darren Smart joined Teachers’ in 2005 and has more than nine years of private equity experience. He has worked on a variety of transactions including Serta and GNC Corporation. Previously, Darren was with Scotia Merchant Capital, a Toronto-based private equity firm.

Darren holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

 

Cleo Cheung
Investment Associate
Cleo Cheung joined Teachers' Private Capital in 2011. Previously, she worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at CIBC World Markets. Cleo earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University.
 

Benjamin Wu
Investment Associate

Benjamin Wu joined Teachers’ Private Capital in 2010. Previously, he worked in the technology investment banking group at BMO Capital Markets. Ben earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph.
