William Royan
William Royan
Vice-President, Relationship Investing
William Royan joined Teachers' in 2008 as Vice-President, Relationship Investing—a portfolio within the Public Equities group focused on large-scale strategic investments in public companies.

He joined Teachers' from Lehman Brothers in New York, where he held senior roles in its mergers group and its equity strategies unit, Lehman's principal investing arm. Previously, he worked in mergers and acquisitions at J.P. Morgan in New York, and RBC Dominion Securities in Toronto.

Mr. Royan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a B.Comm. from the University of Calgary.


 

John Sheedy
Director
John Sheedy joined Teachers' in 2005 prior to which he was a partner at a Toronto-based merchant banking fund from 2001 to 2005.

Previously, John had been a partner at the Canadian law firm Tory Tory Deslauriers & Binnington, where he practiced corporate and securities law with a focus on cross-border financing and mergers and acquisitions.

John holds a B.A. in Economics (honours) from the University of Western Ontario and a law degree from Queen’s University.
 

Maggie Fanari
Portfolio Manager
Maggie Fanari has been with Teachers' since 2006 when she joined the Public Equities department as a Senior Energy Income Trust Analyst.

She moved to Teachers' Relationship Investing group in 2007 and has worked on transactions in multiple sectors. Previously, she worked in equity research at Scotia Capital and started her career at KPMG as an auditor.

Maggie is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA charterholder. She also holds BBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University.
 

James Sikora
Portfolio Manager

James Sikora has been with Teachers' since 2004 when he joined the Public Equities department as a Senior Energy Analyst. In that role he developed long/short investment strategies in the global large-cap energy space.

He moved to Teachers' Relationship Investing group in 2007 and has worked on a variety of transactions in multiple sectors. Previously, James worked in equity research and investment banking roles for National Bank Financial and J.P. Morgan.

He holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
 

Theresa Tam
Portfolio Manager
Theresa Tam has been part of the Relationship Investing group since 2003 and works on public and private transactions in various sectors.

Previously she worked in investment banking at TD Securities and the treasury department of Manulife Financial. Theresa also worked as an auditor at one of the former Big Six accounting firms in Hong Kong.

She completed her MBA at the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder.
 

Khai Ha
Assistant Portfolio Manager
Khai Ha joined Teachers' in 2009. Previously he was an analyst at Epic Capital, a long/short Canadian hedge fund, and also worked at the Canadian multi-strategy arm of Moore Capital, a New York-based global hedge fund.

Prior to that, he was in investment banking at Merrill Lynch & Co. where he focused on mergers and acquisitions.

Khai holds a B.Comm. from the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder.
 

Alex Migon
Senior Analyst

Alex Migon joined Teachers' in 2010. Alex started his career at Merrill Lynch Canada with roles in investment banking and institutional equity sales and trading.

Subsequently, Alex joined the Canadian division of New York-based Moore Capital Advisors as an investment analyst, and most recently provided merger and acquisition consulting services to George Weston Ltd.

Alex holds a B. Comm. from the University of Toronto and is a CFA charterholder.
