He has served on numerous boards throughout his 40-year career and is currently the chair of the Government of Canada Audit Committee and chair of the federal
Small Department and Agencies Audit Committee. He is a member of the International Federation of Accountants’ nominating committee.

A chartered accountant, Mr. Smith is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors and earned a B.Comm. (Honours) from the University of Windsor.
