  Pension plan resumes normal operations
TORONTO (May 31, 2006): Member services are returning to normal at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan following a five-week strike.

Members of OPSEU Local 598 ratified a new four-year contract late May 29 to end the
work stoppage.

“We welcome our employees back to work and are committed to making their transition as smooth as possible,” said Claude Lamoureux, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Lamoureux said teachers retiring at the end of the school year can expect to receive their first pension payment on time as normal business operations resume. Essential services, including the payment of monthly pensions and the investment of plan assets, continued as usual during the strike.

“We appreciate our clients’ patience and look forward to delivering full services again,” said Mr. Lamoureux.
