Peter Maher
Vice-President, Audit Services | Peter Maher and his staff are responsible for the development and implementation of risk-based audit programs. The audit services department provides a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.
Mr. Maher has more than 27 years experience in the financial services industry, initially working with Bank of Montreal in both financial and general management positions. Before joining Teachers' in 1997, Mr. Maher was Director, Examinations for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, where he was responsible for the regulatory oversight of the large Canadian banks.
Mr. Maher is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of Loyola College in Montreal. He is a member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Public Pension Fund Auditors. |

David McGraw
Senior Vice-President, Finance & Chief Financial Officer | David McGraw and his team are responsible for the financial operations of the Teachers’ pension plan, overseeing both corporate and investment finance.
Corporate finance provides accounting services, including financial reporting and budgeting. Investment finance records, settles and accounts for all investment transactions; provides daily investment valuations; values longer term investments; manages investment financial reporting; and quantifies market risk based on daily tracking of fund performance.
Mr. McGraw has more than 20 years of senior management experience in financial management, corporate finance, banking, and mergers and acquisitions. Before joining Teachers’ in 2004, Mr. McGraw was Chief Financial Officer of Bell ExpressVU. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions/Corporate Finance, for BCE/Bell Canada, and Partner-in-Charge of the Corporate Finance Group of a major international accounting firm.
A Chartered Accountant, Mr. McGraw earned a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. |

Marcia Mendes-d’Abreu
Vice-President, Human Resources | Marcia Mendes-d’Abreu and her staff are responsible for human resources for Teachers’, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, learning and development, labour relations and premises.
Ms. Mendes-d’Abreu has more than 20 years experience in human resources management and strategy in the retail, apparel, pharmaceutical and high tech sectors. She joined Teachers’ in 2008 from the Canadian Tire Corporation, where she was Vice-President, Human Resources, Corporate and Diversified Businesses.
Ms. Mendes-d’Abreu earned an M.Sc. from Pepperdine University and a BA from McGill University. |

Russ Bruch
Vice-President, Operations, Investments & Chief Information Officer | Russ Bruch is responsible for Information Technology for both the Member Services and Investment divisions at Teachers'. In addition to his corporate IT role, reporting to the Executive Vice-President Investments, he is also responsible for the Knowledge Centre, and other internal investment operations functions such as annual planning and project oversight.
Mr. Bruch graduated with an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.

Dan Houle
Vice-President Business Solutions | Dan Houle has been with Teachers’ since 1994. He leads a team responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the technology infrastructure and applications for the Investment Division. Team disciplines include Program Management, Project Management, Application Development, Data Architecture, Research & Innovation, and Desktop Services & Training.
Mr. Houle received a BA (Economics) and a post-graduate diploma in Management Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. |

Phil Nichols
Vice-President MIS Member Services | Phil Nichols oversees information technology for member services.
Mr. Nichols joined Teachers’ in 1995 as director and has been instrumental in developing Teachers’ strategic direction to provide immediate, personalized service to plan members.
Mr. Nichols graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BMath.

Roger Barton
Vice-President, General Counsel & Secretary | Roger Barton and his staff are responsible for providing legal advice on the administration of the plan and on management of the pension fund.
During his 30-year career, Mr. Barton has practised law in the pension area and as a corporate counsel in the oil and gas industry. He joined the Teachers’ pension plan as its first lawyer in 1987.
Mr. Barton graduated from the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in 1972 and was admitted to the bar in Ontario in 1974. |
